this AOL issue does not just effect the KT, it effects a lot of sites that have password / IP / cookie based authentication. the official answer is

AOL users should be able to login without any problems if they click "remember me". The AOL browser uses cache servers and the browser's IP changes on each page view which causes problems with session validation. |
i've also unbanned the use of AOL email addresses.
please note, when tring to access the forums IF you are an AOL user or if after your
enter your User Name and Password you get bumped right back to this page, please
select the "Remember Me?" box. Remember to LOG OUT when you are done. DO NOT
access the Kappatalk from a public computer if you are using the AOL software or
if you have to select "Remember Me?" from a public or shared computer.
AOL users can also access the KT by simply opening an internet browser out side
of AOL and try to log in via the AOL extrnal browser. Contact us if you have
any issues.
The KappaTalk now offers a 100 percent mobile friendly experience.
The KappaTalk has been running the mobile forums in a beta release for the past few weeks. We are please to say it is now "gold." If you have not taken advantage of the mobile site now is the time to do so. Simply log on to the forums via your mobile device and the mobile forums will be applied automatically for you. The Mobile Forums will allow you to stay in touch with your fellow Kappas no matter where you are and allow you to access all your information in a fast and streamlined fashion.
Later when you log back in on a PC you will be able to experience the KappaTalk as you are used to it. No user intervention needed.

While AOL users can user this site please note the following two MAJOR issues.
1) DO NOT register for this site using an AOL.COM e-mail address. I recommend using another ISPs e-mail address. aol.com e-mail addresses are not allowed register on this site. If you attempt to register with an AOL.com address you will be told that your e-mail account is banned.
